Uva Ursi Leaf 450 mg 100 capsules
- Kidney and urinary tract support
- Supports cardiovascular system health
- Also known as Bear berry
Also known as bearberry, Swanson Uva Ursi is an economical source of support for kidney and urinary tract health. From 1820 to 1950, uva ursi was officially listed in the US Pharmacopoeia. Now a valuable source for bladder and cardiovascular system function, each two- capsule serving delivers 900 mg of uva ursi leaf.
The herb also contains tannins that have astringent effects, helping to shrink and tighten mucous membranes in the body. In turn, that helps reduce inflammation and fight infection. Today, uva ursi is sometimes used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs) and cystitis (bladder inflammation).
Uva-ursi has been extensively studied for the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs). UTIs are famously hard to treat for many people, they either don’t go away with antibiotics or they only go away briefly. Because of this and because Uva-ursi clearly works this herb actually been given a good amount of modern scientific scrutiny and it turns out that there is a sugary molecule in Uva-ursi called arbutin that, when it gets into the urinary tract, gets transformed into ‘hydroquinone’ — a natural, potent antibiotic.
